“Nahi Rachenge Swang Bhaiya – Hum To Chale Haridwar” : Bimb Cultural Committee Delights Lucknow Audience with Hilarious Play

Lucknow: The laughter echoed through Ray Umanath Bali Auditorium on Sunday evening as the Bimb Cultural Committee staged the comic drama “Nahi Rachenge Swang Bhaiya – Hum To Chale Haridwar”, written by acclaimed playwright Ramkishore Nag and directed by Maharshi Kapoor. Supported by the Ministry of Culture, New Delhi, the Uttar Pradesh Directorate of Culture, and the State Bank of India, the play delivered a witty and engaging message about honesty triumphing over lies.

Opening with a humorous newspaper advertisement, the story revolves around Chandraprakash Babu and his children-in-law, Ravi and Jyoti, who work in different cities. A legal notice tied to the advertisement stipulates that if Chandraprakash does not become a grandfather within a year, Ravi and Jyoti must pay a five crore rupees penalty, plunging the family into a series of comic misadventures.

Through clever plot twists—swapped job transfers, staged paralysis, and fake medical reports—Ravi and Jyoti attempt to satisfy Chandraprakash’s impossible conditions while keeping him convinced of the situation. The play humorously portrays Chandraprakash’s mounting frustration, ultimately leading him to declare, “We can’t do this, we’re off to Haridwar!”, leaving the audience in splits.

The performances were widely appreciated, with Gurudatt Pandey portraying Chandraprakash Babu, Abhishek Kumar Pal as Ravi, and Ishita Varshney as Jyoti. Supporting roles by Neelam Varshney, Vivek Ranjan Singh, Ambuj Agrawal, and a talented ensemble including Sarita Kapoor, Sarika Srivastava, Lucky Chaurasia, Neha Chaurasia, Anukriti Srivastava, Akshat Srivastava, and Aastha Srivastava added vibrancy to the production. Technical aspects such as lighting by Tamal Bose, music by Niyati Nag, and makeup, set, and costume design were seamlessly executed.

The event also honored contributions to the arts, with MLC Pawan Singh Chauhan presenting commemorative tokens and robes to veteran art critic Rajveer Ratan. The play not only entertained but also reminded audiences of the humor and humanity in everyday life, cementing Bimb Cultural Committee’s reputation for delivering thoughtful and laughter-filled theatre experiences in Lucknow.
